English language learning (ELL) is a multifaceted process influenced by various factors such as learner motivation, language proficiency, and socio-cultural contexts. This study investigates the effectiveness of gamification in enhancing ELL among secondary school students in rural areas of Southeast Asia. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, including pre- and post-intervention surveys, interviews, and classroom observations, the research explores the impact of gamified language learning activities on students' language skills, motivation, and engagement. The findings reveal a significant improvement in language proficiency levels and heightened motivation among students participating in gamified learning compared to traditional instructional methods. Moreover, qualitative analysis uncovers students' positive perceptions of gamification, citing increased enjoyment, autonomy, and collaboration in the language learning process. These results contribute to the growing body of literature on gamification in education and offer insights into its potential for addressing challenges in ELL, particularly in resource-constrained environments. Implications for curriculum design, teacher training, and policy development are discussed, emphasizing the importance of integrating innovative pedagogical approaches to promote inclusive and effective language education.
