Abstract

This abstract provides a concise overview of the legal frameworks in international space law, focusing on the historical evolution, key treaties and agreements, contemporary challenges, and future prospects. As humanity ventures further into space exploration, the need for a robust legal foundation becomes increasingly critical to address the complexities and opportunities of cosmic activities. The Outer Space Treaty of 1967 serves as a cornerstone, establishing principles of peaceful use, non-appropriation, and international cooperation. Subsequent agreements, including the Liability Convention and the Registration Convention, further shape the legal landscape governing space activities. However, as space exploration advances, new challenges emerge, such as space debris management, resource utilization, and commercialization. Addressing these issues requires the adaptation and enhancement of existing legal frameworks to ensure the sustainable and responsible exploration of outer space. Looking ahead, the article suggests areas for future development in international space law, emphasizing the importance of updated treaties to accommodate emerging technologies and promote international cooperation. By navigating these legal complexities with foresight and collaboration, humanity can continue its journey into the cosmos while upholding principles of peace, equity, and sustainability.
