Measuring the Effect of Service Quality of TVET on Student Performance in the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Nigeria

Technical, Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) has been identified as an effective strategy for improving socio-economic development of both developing and developed nations. This study aims at assessing the student’s experience of service quality of TVET in federal polytechnic Ilaro, Nigeria. The study reviewed concept of service quality and TVET, reviewed of previous findings from related studies and adopted SERVQUAL model as the study framework. The Population of the study is about 10,250 student during 2021/2022 academic session in studied institution. The study adopted Krejcie and Morgan sampling technique to have 375 sample size. The study is cross-sectional that collected data at one time, from both primary source of questionnaire administration, and secondary sources of journal articles, internet materials, government publications, among others. Data collected were analysed through descriptive and inferential statistics of frequency distribution table, percentage and linear regression analysis. The study discovered that Empathy, Reliability and Responsiveness of SERVQUAL are significant dimensions of service quality of TVET affecting student performance, and Tangibility and Assurance are not significant dimensions of service quality of TVET affecting student performance in the studied institution in Nigeria. Therefore, the study concluded that student performance are affected by service quality of TVET in the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro Ogun State Nigeria.
